2023 WHATZ ART FAIR - [ ap / ad ] 藝造.艸愚軒

Introduction

「appropriate」一詞中文中譯做適當的、得宜的。若是作為動詞使用則有挪用之意。而這個詞彙源自兩個詞源[ap/ad]，兩者皆有給予之意。「propriate」則指個人的私有物，兩者結合便有移花接木、將他人之物佔據之意，本次展覽通過appropriate這個詞彙的兩面意義來討論小林伸幸、千海博美、張宏彥、廖宣雅（依姓名排序）四位藝術家的創作。

The word "appropriate" translates to "適當的" or "得宜的" in Chinese. When used as a verb, it can also carry the meaning of "挪用" which implies misappropriation. This term originates from two roots, "ap" and "ad," both of which convey the idea of giving. "Propriate" refers to personal possessions, and when combined, the two roots suggest grafting or occupying someone else's belongings. In this exhibition, the dual meanings of the word "appropriate" are explored to discuss the works of four artists: Nobuyuki Kobayashi, Hiromi Senno, Hung Yen Chang, and Hsuan Ya Liao (listed in alphabetical order by name).
